Ubisoft is working on a full refresh of the Splinter Cell series. The reboot of the game is to hit the current generation of consoles and personal computers in the coming years, but the French corporation was reportedly planning one more title. Splinter Cell Hunters was canceled before the show.
Ubisoft has recently confirmed the cancellation of several productions, but in fact, some games have never been announced. The company simply mentioned that the titles were in preparation, but at some point they were abandoned.
This list could have included Splinter Cell Hunters – one of the testers shared the details of the item, and although the information appeared on 4chan, the facts suggest that such a title was actually being created.
Splinter Cell Hunters was actually another attempt by the company for the Battle Royale genre – 28 players divided into groups of two players hit the map and the task of the daredevils was to eliminate the appropriate targets (HVT). At the same time, it was necessary to pay attention to other people and AI.
After getting rid of (HVT), players would work on raiding loot caches before eventually making it to the extraction point and exiting the map.
The creators came up with an interesting idea, because death in Splinter Cell Hunters did not end the fun, and instead the player went to the mercenary team with the selected equipment and only killing another player allowed him to return to the game as a spy. The game even featured a traitor system that was activated after killing its partner, but the tester did not reveal additional details about the mechanics.
In Splinter Cell Hunters there was no shortage of progression, promotions, various operators, classes, gadgets, and in general, one can get the impression that the whole thing was in an advanced stage of production. Despite this, Ubisoft decided to cancel the project.
