Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game can now look “amazing” thanks to Ray Tracing, as you may have heard. Or at least that’s the impression certain folks want you to have. The Ray Tracing implementation in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn’t all that good, in actuality. Ray Tracing can actually make the game seem worse, thus we strongly advise deactivating it.
We used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 memory running at 6000 MHz, and an NVIDIA RTX 4090 for our tests before moving on. Additionally, we made use of the GeForce 531.68 driver and Windows 10 64-bit. For those who are curious, the game’s most recent version (with the most recent patch applied) is used for the gameplay in this video.
In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, RTAO, RTGI on particular objects, and very few RT Reflections are added through ray tracing. The RTAO’s extremely condensed radius is the issue here, though. As a result, while exploring the areas with RT On, you’ll experience AWFUL visual alterations.
These visual problems are highlighted in the video that follows. As you can see, shadows can appear directly in front of you and alter the appearance of the scene. Both when you are approaching and fleeing from something, this occurs. This leads to a lack of visual coherence in this game with RT On. And indeed, if you turn off Ray Tracing, these visual problems go away.
