The studio responsible for the Dark Souls series has accustomed players to developing great games, but the developers are aware that in some situations fans have waited far too long for the debut of new titles. From Software wants to improve its release schedule.
Last year, Elden Ring premiered, but the studio’s last project (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice) hit the market in 2019. The studio has been working on two games simultaneously for a long time, so it can release productions year after year (Bloodborne in 2015, Dark Souls 3 in 2016), but there are often 3-4 year gaps between major releases.
The Japanese want to change that – Yasuhiro Kitao (producer from From Software), talking to Eurogamer, confirmed that the company wants to launch “new and exciting games” much faster, and at the same time shorten the time between premieres.
This is our philosophy, and it hasn’t changed much in the last ten years, especially since Miyazaki became president of the company. This is an area we’ve always strived for: always creating something new, always creating something original, something that’s interesting and fun for us as players. In that sense, little has really changed. We are developing many titles at the same time, we have several teams working on different projects. We hope to be able to stagger our launches and offer something new and exciting in not so long intervals.
Managing the schedule is a big challenge for many teams and From Software knows this. The company is still growing and now wants to offer players new adventures much faster.
As you know, yesterday we learned the release date of Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon, and at the same time a story expansion for From Software is being developed, but it is very possible that these are not the only items from this team that are already in production.
