Before this year’s expansion, The Elder Scrolls Online customarily provides us with a tale introduction in the form of a smaller DLC. The Elder Scrolls Online: Scribes of Fate was accessible to us.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, which will be released this year as it is every year, is a sizable story expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls Online: Scribes of Fate expansion offers new dungeons for players to explore before that occurs. But is it really worth your time?
Knowledge is the key to power
We had the chance to test the most recent Expansion for the venerable MMORPG from Bethesda and speak with the creators about what they have in store for adventurers who dare to enter this ominous land and fresh dungeons. There are a lot of little extras in the Scribes of Fate add-on, but Scrivener’s Hall and Bal Sunnar are the two primary story missions. The creators sent me the first of them as part of the playtests. What emotions do I have?
Naturally, I don’t want to give anything away here, so I’ll keep my story description of the Scrivener’s Hall task to the essentials. It turns out that the Scribes of Mora order has started to transform under the new leadership into warped and fanatical combatants who, rather than operating in accordance with their ideals, start to cause severe difficulties, which makes the former ruler of the order desire to retake control. We must immediately begin the pursuit of evil since the Daedric lord of forbidden knowledge known as Hermaeus Mora wants our assistance. This will take us to a number of intriguing places, including a mystery dimension full of spiders that has up until now been hidden in great secrecy.
I must admit that when navigating this area, I had a bit of the same feeling as Ron did in the second Harry Potter film: I was surrounded by hundreds of enormous, terrifying spiders that were crawling on me from above, from the walls, and from below. This is fantastic and really thrilling, but folks who are truly terrified of arachnids may experience difficulties. The designers decided against adding any modifiers in the form of a mode that transforms the spiders into another creature because the entire setting would lose its own mood and sense of place.
There are a number of bosses in this dungeon, but at the very end you will face Valinna, the brand-new Mora Scribes leader. Prior to it, though, you will also visit a sizable library fit for true devotees of esoteric learning, where you will engage in combat with a man who uses books as weapons. Can dense densities be fatal? You should see for yourself, however I will add that the mission’s creators truly deserve a standing ovation for their innovative treatment of the theme and design of this combat.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Scribes of Fate – is it worth playing?
If you have time during one of the raids, I definitely recommend taking a look at these side paths because you will find there a lot of interesting stuff and a handful of additional knowledge. The developers have also made sure that each of the locations visited here provides us with a lot of secrets and curiosities. Both of the missions are combined into one story in The Elder Scrolls Online: Scribes of Fate, which will of course be continued in The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom. So, you should definitely play this add-on if you appreciate difficult difficulties, a variety of missions with lots of surprises, and gaining as much knowledge as you can about The Elder Scrolls universe.
