Activision Blizzard has been part of Microsoft for several weeks. The creators of the Call of Duty series joined Xbox and Andrew Wilson commented on the topic. The head of Electronic Arts is convinced that the largest transaction in our industry is something really good.
Microsoft spent $69 billion to take over Activision Blizzard. This is a gigantic agreement that allows the Xbox manufacturer to manage brands such as Call of Duty, Diablo or Crash Bandicoot.
Andrew Wilson spoke to CNBC and was asked about Microsoft’s actions. At the beginning, the head of EA emphasized the very good position of Electronic Arts, which has the largest IP in the world in its library, and then the CEO confirmed his position.
A representative of Electronic Arts praised the transaction, emphasizing that thanks to this, Microsoft will remain in the industry and continue to invest in games.
I think Microsoft-Activision is great news. This means that one of the largest companies in the world will continue to invest in our industry to help us grow it.
Andrew Wilson then emphasized that Electronic Arts feels very good as an independent company that can systematically introduce new IP to the market and implement its projects. However, the CEO does not hide the fact that if an appropriate offer appears, EA may consider taking over.
But thinking about our position – certainly as an independent developer and publisher of the world’s leading interactive entertainment content – we feel really good about our opportunities and to the extent that those acquisition opportunities exist for us, we would obviously consider them.
It is worth emphasizing that at one time there were rumors according to which Electronic Arts may be the next corporation to be bought by one of the giants.
