The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on September 1st, according to an announcement made by Daedalic Entertainment. The version for the Nintendo Switch is expected to be released at a “later date.”
The events of this story take place during the first few chapters of The Lord of the Ring, and the main character, Gollum, is obsessed with finding and reclaiming the One Ring. This will bring him to a variety of places, spanning from Bardûr and Mirkwood all the way to Mordor (which can be seen in the new screenshots below). Gollum isn’t the most powerful character, therefore he has to rely on sneaking around, agility, platforming, and his wits to make it through the game.
The ability to make decisions that lean towards either the Smeagol personality or the Gollum personality is perhaps the most interesting aspect of this skill. The former demonstrates greater empathy, while the latter is all about viciousness and brutal treatment of others. It is up to the player to determine which side will emerge victorious in the end. Keep an eye out over the next few months for additional information regarding the game.
Gollum's quest for his precious will begin on September 1, 2022!
