The Witcher 3 modders have only been using CD Projekt Red’s tools for two months, but they’ve already put them to great use.
A new mod, created by user FreakVlp from Nexus Mods, introduces a full-fledged reputation system to the game, which significantly affects Geralt’s interactions with NPCs. “Reputation System”, as it is called, was published yesterday, July 18. According to the creator, it restores the original concept, which was cut from the original version of the game.
The reputation system introduces five levels: Hated, Disliked, Neutral, Liked, and Respected. Reputation points are gained for completing Witcher contracts, winning races and fights, and making decisions in main quests. Points are lost for theft and aggressive behavior, e.g. towards guards.
Reputation will affect prices in stores. The better it is, the bigger discounts we will get and the more expensive things will sell. A worse reputation means higher purchase prices and lower sale prices. Now Geralt’s choices and behaviors now have real consequences in the game world, enriching the already ambitious RPG title.
