Ubisoft has given more information about its game subscription service, Ubisoft +. The company explained why it thinks the Xbox version can do well on its own instead of being combined with Game Pass. Philippe Tremblay, who is in charge of Ubisoft+, told GI.biz that the market for game subscriptions isn’t full yet, and Ubisoft is trying to get a piece of it.
Tremblay said, “We haven’t really seen that this market has reached its full potential.” “Subscription offers are still pretty new for everyone, including Xbox and other partners out there.”
EA, which is also a well-known developer, made a deal with Microsoft to add EA Play to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Even though Ubisoft+ doesn’t come with Game Pass, it’s likely that Microsoft is charging Ubisoft some kind of fee as the platform provider.
Tremblay went on to say that the “key point” for Ubisoft+ is that it needs great games to get people to sign up, and Tremblay, of course, thinks Ubisoft+ has them.
“We have great stuff behind us. “That’s the thing that makes us different,” Tremblay said.
For $18 per month, Xbox players can join the subscription program and get access to a library of games and a 10% discount on in-game things. It also gives you access to PC games and lets you watch from the cloud. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, The Division 2, Riders Republic, For Honor, Rainbow Six Siege, The Crew 2, Steep, Watch Dogs: Legion, and more are among the games in the library. All new games from Ubisoft come out on the same day in Ubisoft+.
Tremblay said that the reason Ubisoft+ is coming to Xbox is to “reach a new population of gamers” who haven’t played a Ubisoft game yet. “We definitely see subscriptions as a way to do that,” Tremblay said.
When it first came out for PC in 2019, it was called Uplay+. Ubisoft has also said that the game will be coming to PlayStation at some point in the future. PS Plus members can get Ubisoft+ Classics, which is a form of Ubisoft+.
